Developer setup
Required tools
Section titled “Required tools”- Godot 4.7 .NET editor. The standard editor cannot build the C# project.
- .NET 8 SDK, which matches
GDCraft.csproj. - Git and PowerShell for the repository scripts.
Open the project
Section titled “Open the project”- Clone the GDCraft repository and open its
project.godotfile in the Godot .NET editor. - Let the editor import the project and build the C# assembly.
- Run the project with F5. The configured main scene is
scenes/Main.tscn. - Start a single-player world from the title screen.
Godot imports can take a while on the first open. If the editor reports C# build errors, inspect the Output panel and confirm that the .NET edition of Godot and the .NET 8 SDK are installed.
Configure command-line validation
Section titled “Configure command-line validation”The validation script needs the path to the Godot 4.7 .NET console executable. Set GODOT_BIN in the current PowerShell session, using the actual path on your machine:
$env:GODOT_BIN = 'C:\path\to\Godot_v4.7-stable_mono_win64_console.exe'Keep this setting local; it is machine-specific. Once configured, run ./scripts/validate.ps1 from the repository root. See build and validation for filters and failure output.
